5 things about PLAY you need to know.

1) Play is about Ease, not speed. Kids in play want the game to go on forever; they will do everything they can to keep the game going, including doing as little as possible, and this helps find easier and easier solutions.

2) Play is the foundation of all communication. Want soccer IQ? you will need to be fluent in play language. Like all languages, best to begin early.

3) Play is not a vitamin. Not something you can have your kids do a "Friday free play" In a best practice environment it would be only until Peak Height Velocity

4) It's not about you. THe key to doing less and getting more done is to get others to do it for you.  Great players do less and get more done because they play while the rest of us work.

5) You are trying to hard. If you are trying to improve you are not playing--you are working, likely for someone else, except you are not getting paid, they are.

Jack Rowlett.

One of the most athletic players in the PLL, Jack plays with a tenacity that makes for a hard matchup with the other team’s best attackman.

Too be frank, the way he moves and how violent he can be is a force of nature.

A local northern Virginia product, attending Robinson HS, Jack is a friend and continues to represent northern Virginia lacrosse.

Free Play directly affecting confidence.

“One of the most amazing phenomenons I've found with Free Play is the improvement in the confidence of the athletes.

So many kids lack assertiveness, they're worried about being a ball hog, they always defer and it comes down to confidence and fluency.  I tweeted the other day that ‘Free Play is a panacea’ and this is a perfect example.

A real lacrosse game is an uncomfortable and unforgiving environment.

However most kids grow up in structured practice environment trying to execute what the coach wants them to execute and to try not to do what the coach doesn't want.  When a coach says "Move the ball" or "Don't Dodge" kids take this literally.

Free Play teaches kids how to play well in games.

Free Play games by nature are more similar to real games than the structured game like scenarios of drills.  What happens over time is kids learn how make the play that presents themselves without a second thought, no worry about being a hog or whatever!  Kids personalities do not need to change.  The Free Play will allow them to be themselves and be great lacrosse players who make plays!”
